The presence of the Minister of Health and Medical Education at Pars Isotope

Dr. Mohammad Reza Zafarghandi, Minister of Health and Medical Education, visited the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran on Thursday morning, December 12, to visit the latest achievements of the nuclear industry and talk with Engineer Mohammad Eslami, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran. He also visited the Pars Isotope radiopharmaceutical production laboratories.

During the visit, the Minister of Health and his deputies, along with Engineer Eslami, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization, and Mohammad Reza Davarpanah, CEO of Pars Isotope, spoke closely with production and R&D experts from the only company producing and supplying diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals in Iran. In addition, were informed of more details about the latest status of radiopharmaceutical production and distribution in Iran.

The Minister of Health, while visiting the irradiation laboratory, the iodine radiopharmaceutical production laboratory, the therapeutic radiopharmaceutical production laboratory, the radionuclide generator production laboratory, and the radiopharmaceutical kit production laboratory, also discussed with experts the achievements and new diagnostic and therapeutic products of Pars Isotope that are undergoing clinical trial stages or have completely passed these stages. These new products include “FAPI diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, new F-18 products, Alphaza radiopharmaceuticals and the Tilmanosept radiopharmaceutical kit”. After visiting the laboratories, Dr. Zafarghandi also visited the radiopharmaceutical packaging department and closely examined and observed more details about packaging, shipping methods, the routes for sending radiopharmaceuticals to nuclear medicine centers across the country on a weekly basis, transportation requirements, and more.

During the visit, the Minister of Health emphasized the expansion of cooperation between the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran and the Ministry of Health and Medical Education to maintain and promote the health of the community. In this regard, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the two institutions.

This memorandum of understanding was signed by Mohammad Eslami, Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, and Mohammad Reza Zafarghandi, Minister of Health and Medical Education, with the aim of utilizing the capacity of nuclear knowledge, expanding the application of nuclear technology in the field of health, treatment and community health, benefiting the people from peaceful nuclear achievements, and promoting public health.

Based on this memorandum, a joint strategic committee will be formed between the Ministry of Health and Medical Education and the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran to develop cooperation to maximize the use of facilities and talents, maintain and promote community health and radiation safety culture, protect the public, and accelerate the provision of services and meet needs.

It is worth noting that Pars Isotope, as the only entity producing and supplying diagnostic and therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals in Iran, will be one of the implementing elements of this memorandum to promote the public health of the community.
