EDTMP or Ethylenediamine Tetramethylene Phosphonic Acid is a phosphonic acid which after labeling with Sm-153 and Lu-177 is used for relieving bone metastatic pain and it has got special functioning. The radiopharmaceutical prepared from this kit is injected into the vein and distributed throughout the body, and it is absorbed in the areas where the cancer has invaded the bone, it kills the tumor cells by releasing beta particles and reduces the pain greatly. After the injection, the patient begins to recover in the first week and the healing effects may last for several months. In addition, due to the gamma emission of Lu-177 and Sm-153, capability of imaging and following up the treatment is another feature of the radiopharmaceuticals obtained from this kit.
