PARS‑Phytate is a radiopharmaceutical kit for the preparation of 99mTc‑Phytate and evaluation of liver and spleen function. Each vial contains 10 mg of lyophilized, sterile, non‑pyrogen phytic acid, which, after radiolabeling with Tc‑99m, is administered intravenously. This product is intended solely for diagnostic use and, by accumulating in the reticuloendothelial system, enables assessment of the structure and function of the liver and spleen.
- Assessment of liver and spleen anatomy and function
- Diagnosis and evaluation of space‑occupying liver lesions (such as tumors, metastases, and focal nodular hyperplasia)
- Evaluation of the extent of liver involvement in cirrhosis and assessment of its complications
- Evaluation of disorders of the reticuloendothelial system of the liver and spleen
99mTc‑Phytate is a colloidal compound that, after intravenous administration, forms colloidal complexes in the presence of calcium ions in the blood serum. These colloidal particles are then taken up and trapped by the cells of the reticuloendothelial system (particularly in the liver and spleen). For this reason, this radiopharmaceutical is used for imaging of the liver and spleen and for evaluation of reticuloendothelial system function, as the extent and pattern of its accumulation reflect the functional status of these organs.
