One-day seminar on “The role of radiopharmaceuticals in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer” was held

On Thursday, May 12, 2022, a one-day seminar on the role of radiopharmaceuticals in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer was held at the Heart Hotel of Shahid Rajaei Hospital. Mr. Eslami, the Vice President and Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran, also attended the seminar.
The seminar began with a speech by the scientific secretary, Dr. Tahereh Rostami, a specialist in pediatric hematology and cancer, followed by a speech by Mr. Islami, the head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran. Referring to the role of nuclear technology in ensuring public health, he said: The duty of the Atomic Energy Organization in the unlimited scope for scientific and research movement in the field of health is more important today than ever before, and public health is one of the most important axes of the organization’s activities to achieve the goals of the nuclear industry.
In addition, Dr. Seyed Kazem Razavi, the President of the Iranian Nuclear Medicine Association, thanked Mr. Davarpanah, the CEO of Pars Isotope.
Also, other invited professors and physicians presented their lectures and discussed the use of radiopharmaceuticals in the diagnosis and treatment of various types of cancer. Exchanging views and discussing scientific matters among oncologists and nuclear medicine specialists, as well as introducing new radiopharmaceuticals were other features of this seminar.
Two specialized panels were convened at the end of this seminar. The first panel addressed the challenges of using radiopharmaceuticals in the diagnosis of pediatric malignancies, and the second panel examined the treatment of neuroendocrine tumors using radiopharmaceuticals. In each of these specialized panels, people discussed and consulted on the mentioned topics.
It is worth mentioning that the specialized seminar “The role of radiopharmaceuticals in the diagnosis and treatment of cancer” was organized by the Research Institute for Oncology, Hematology and Cell Therapy in collaboration with Pars Isotope Company. This event was held with the participation of a group of nuclear medicine specialists and prominent Iranian oncologists. The purpose of holding this seminar was to acquaint oncologists with radiopharmaceuticals and their applications in the diagnosis and treatment of various types of cancer to benefit from their uses.
