PARS‑MAA is a sterile, non‑pyrogen lyophilized radiopharmaceutical kit for the diagnosis of lung diseases, which, after radiolabeling with Tc‑99m, is used for evaluation of these conditions via SPECT imaging. The MAA kit is intended solely for diagnostic use and for the preparation of 99mTc‑MAA.
- Evaluation of pulmonary function (lung perfusion scan)
- Diagnosis of pulmonary embolism and myocardial infarction
- Assessment of chronic circulatory failure
- Diagnosis of regional respiratory distress
- Diagnosis of emphysema, tumors, and various inflammatory conditions
- Venous blood flow scan
- Blood perfusion scan in abdominal and posterior organs
- Diagnosis of deep vein thrombosis in the lower extremities and pelvis
- Assessment of possible inferior vena cava obstruction
In 99mTc‑MAA, the particle size typically ranges from 10 to 90 micrometers. When a suspension of radiolabeled particles is injected intravenously, most particles become trapped upon passing through the first capillary bed of the pulmonary circulation and are cleared from the bloodstream. This allows for imaging of the lungs.
The PARS‑MAA® kit is manufactured under aseptic conditions. After radiolabeling with a specified amount of sterile, non‑pyrogen sodium pertechnetate injection (Na99mTcO₄) — eluted from a 99Mo/99mTc generator — the preparation is ready for intravenous administration. The dose to be used will be prescribed by the physician.
